Last week Shrillary let the cat out of the bag when she said the the Obama administration is building a case against Arizona over it's illegal immigration laws. I found this excerpt from a similar law in Missouri:
28.824. All law enforcement officers shall inquire into the citizenship and immigration status of any person under arrest for a violation of any state law or municipal ordinance, regardless of the person's national origin, ethnicity, or race. In all such cases where a person indicates
that he or she is not a citizen or national of the United States, the law enforcement agent shall verify with the federal government whether the alien is lawfully or unlawfully present in the United States, under 8 U.S.C. 1373(c). If the alien is verified to be unlawfully present in the United States, the law enforcement officer shall cooperate with any request by federal immigration authorities to detain the alien or transfer the alien to the custody of the federal government."
This law as passed in Missouri in 2008 with 83% of the voters approving. Why is Obama only going after Arizona?|||Arizona's law is not racial profiling. That is clear to him and to anyone who has actually read the law.
Obama has another objective.
Prevent Arizona and all states from enforcing the immigration laws. He is refusing to do his sworn duty and he is not enforcing the law. He is NOT being a President.
Obama has one objective. Create crisis after crisis. He WANTS immigration to become a huge crisis. That way he will get to push through the legislation He wants and get his end goal.
His goal is to fling open our borders so we can be "peacefully" invaded and the American society will be destroyed.
He gets to call for a new Constitution that can accommodate the new American society and assure an orderly society under the control of the President.
It is just another part of the mantra of the obama Administration: Never let a Crisis go to waste.
They create one crisis after another.
This will continue for as long as he is in the White House. Just as he is blocking the cleanup of the oil leak, he is blocking the enforcing of immigration laws.
Enforcing the law IS the JOB of the President. Arizona would not need their new law if Obama would only do his job.
We do not have a President. We have a crisis creator and his objective is CHANGE!
That change is nefarious in nature.|||OH NO!! Obama thinks the federal government should create immigration legislation. Doesn鈥檛 he know that the Supreme Court has ruled that the Congressional power to regulate naturalization, in Article 1, Section 8, of the U.S. Constitution States includes the power to regulate immigration.
LET鈥橲 IMPEACH HIM!!
Article 1 - The Legislative Branch
Section 8 - Powers of Congress
To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization,|||Obama shouldn't forget the real Americans.
The more he goes after AZ, the more he digs himself in a hole. His policies of taxing working Americans and feeding the poor isn't working.|||Because the Arizona law is an obvious violation of Article I, Section 8 of the United States Constitution, which gives the Federal Congress exclusive authority to regulate immigration and naturalization.|||I see none of the liberals here are going to answer your question but it is interesting. My thoughts are that Arizona has embarassed Obama and highlighted his intentions to give illegal amnesty.|||So that they can make an example out of Arizona, let more illegals in, who will vote for them and Obama can keep his power.
Rule 1: All those with power are afraid to lose it - no matter who they are.|||Sweet! Other states do have smart laws on the books!
Now if we could only get them to enforce them!|||Votes|||To take our attention/minds off more pressing issues.|||Laws are very tricky things, you may have noticed the phrase, "of any person under arrest for a violation of any state law or municipal ordinance." and "in all such cases (under arrest for violation etc) where a person indicates that he or she is not a citizen"
So before your papers are checked, you need to be 'under arrest'. Arrest first check later.
Which is fairly standard, if you commit a crime you lose your right to privacy. They can investigate all they want.
As I understand it the AZ is different. They don't have to be under arrest to have to show papers. It makes a difference.
Other states do have laws that cover illegals, and they aren't in violation of the Federal laws.|||Because the DOJ headed up by Eric "defends the terrorists"Holder, and operating under order from Barack Hussein "I hate America" 0bama, hate the laws and regulations set forth for immigrating into our land as well as they seem to loath Republicans and other free thinkers who wish to uphold the laws that they have failed to enforce. You see the illegalcrats know that their days are numbered, unless they circumvent the laws of the land and allow illegals access to our country and of course register them as democrats|||What we should insist upon is that all laws must be enforced or repealed. There are literally thousands of laws on the books that are not enforced. That is ridiculous. This is a nation of laws. Laws should never be ignored. If they are no longer required repeal them. If they are inadequate, modify them. If they exist enforce them. Enforce them vigorously. Enforce them equally.
What we are doing with immigration laws is enforcing them selectively. That is discriminatory and should never be allowed. There are lots of laws that exist on both State and Federal books. Murder, Robbery, Arson etc. One may prosecute on either level. But imagine the dilemma if the Federal Government could dictate the law and prohibit the States from doing so, then fail to enforce it. The fact that there is a Federal Law does not prohibit States from passing a similar one or even a more effective or stringent one.
I think that States should start passing laws that make hiring illegal immigrants punishable by a fine of $20k per offense. They should start passing laws that make it illegal to rent or sell housing to anyone who is not able to prove they are here legally.
May I suggest a new protest slogan? POWER (back) TO THE PEOPLE!

I need to know where there are checkpoints between arizona and california, any and all ways to go through please.|||I have lived back and forth in AZ and southern Cali the past 3 years, so I do a lot of driving. A couple years ago I lived in 29 Palms, which is off the I-10 W on your way to LA. The only checkpoint is at the AZ/CA border and half the time it's closed, so you just drive right on through. Currently I live in San Diego which you take the I-8 W. There are TONS!!!! The first one is at the AZ/CA border, again 1/2 the time it's closed. Then they just set one up between Yuma and El Centro, then there's another one between El Centro and Alpine. And occassionally they'll sneak another temporary one in there somewhere. So going between San Diego and Phx there are usually 3-4 stops.|||There is a check point coming in Arizona off of the I-8. There is one in Serria Vista, One in Casa Grande. Half the time the aren't even staffed. Look at a map to get the roads going in and out of Arizona there are too many to list.
clearly Arizona is racist by going not wanting illegals. How racist of you Arizona.|||You should explain to the dead rancher's family in AZ how illegal aliens are helpful.|||As a Latino democrat who voted for Obama, (and a Gay American), I recently heard about Arizona's new stringent anti-immigration law. I support it. Bravo to Arizona!
The fact is, illegal aliens have “more” rights than gay people in our country. Illegal aliens can go and see their opposite sex partners in hospitals, and up until a couple of weeks ago, same sex couples would have been continually barred from seeing one another. Illegal aliens can marry an American citizen, gay people cannot marry in most states in our country. Illegal aliens can march on Washington and request some type of amnesty from a president who supports selective amnesty, gay people can march on Washington, but their president does not support same sex marriage.
Illegal aliens broke the law entering our country and are getting free health care, free housing, and food stamps. Their anchor babies born here give them these benefits automatically and there is nothing to stop them from bearing more children in order to convince a judge to let them stay in our country. On the other hand, many states do not allow gay Americans to adopt children.
Illegal aliens should all be deported now; their anchor babies can return when they turn 18 years of age. We also need to end birthright citizenship, and deny illegals access to social services. Americans are ultimately left to pick up the bill for the billions in services that they receive for free courtesy of the taxpayers all the while illegal aliens pay nothing into the system (from which they benefit) and then send mostly all their earned money back to Mexico to help our their country and not ours.
As a gay American, the notion of amnesty for these illegal aliens, aggravates me knowing that right now they have more rights than I do. Citizens who pay taxes into the system, regardless of sexual orientation, should come first before illegal aliens who take what they want from the system and leave struggling Americans paying their bill.|||When I lived in yuma Az, an illegal came over the boarder and slaughtered an entire family, who just so happened to be of mexican descent. He slipped back over the boarder and was never caught.
Yes Arizona is Racist. Racist against criminals and if you live here you should be grateful. If your not grateful, LEAVE!|||Most illegals their are from Mexico, its right there. If you can't admit that then you can't admit that they are mexican because you would be "racist" is stupid. Apparantly overconcerned people do not know that. because if they did it would be racist.|||sorry-----they have been arresting and deporting illegals now for over a year and a half with strict oversight-----38,000 illegals detained;/jailed/and or deported so far-----lol-----the race card is so full of snot holes it dont even hold water any more-----americans are fed up with the selfrighteous, hateful attutudes of those on our soil-----friggin ingrates.|||If you're the preponderance of illegals that are coming into the United States are of Mexican descent, then they are criminal, they are illegal, they should be deported. And in fact we should criminally profile, not racially profile."|||dont you have to be american to count for civil rights anyways? plus nothing is illigal for asking for someones papers, they spread gang violence and drugs in america and since this big drug problem has risen south of the border we should crack down|||How could someone think Arizona's displeasure with illegals is racism?
Clearly Arizona is smart by not wanting illegals. How smart of you Arizona.|||The LAW specifies
people who are in AMERICA illegally
THINK PEOPLE!
If you are a citizen, you have nothing to worry about!
Clearly
The emperor is NAKED!|||wow. i think the true colors showed when a reporter asked the arizona gov. "what does and illegal immigrant look like?"|||Because it's not.
Illegal people are here illegally. People who don't understand that don't understand facts.|||Deport your illegal self.|||...Are you being sarcastic? I can't tell. But I really hope you are.|||Illegal is not a race.|||That is so stupid. Punishing law breakers has nothing to do with racism. Stop playing the race card|||Immigration is good for the financial health of Social Security because more workers mean more tax revenue. Illegal immigration, it turns out, is even better than legal immigration. In the fine print of the 2008 annual report on Social Security, released last week, the program’s trustees noted that growing numbers of “other than legal” workers are expected to bolster the program over the coming decades.
One reason is that many undocumented workers pay taxes during their work lives but don’t collect benefits later. Another is that undocumented workers are entering the United States at ever younger ages and are expected to have more children while they’re here than if they arrived at later ages. The result is a substantial increase in the number of working-age people paying taxes, but a relatively smaller increase in the number of retirees who receive benefits — a double boon to Social Security’s bottom line.
We’re not talking chump change. According to the report, the taxes paid by other-than-legal immigrants will close 15 percent of the system’s projected long-term deficit. That’s equivalent to raising the payroll tax by 0.3 percentage points, starting today.
That is not to suggest that illegal immigration is a legitimate fix to Social Security’s problems. It is another reminder, however, of the nation’s complex relationship with undocumented workers. Would the people who want to deport all undocumented workers be willing to make up the difference and pay the taxes that the undocumented are currently paying?
It is also a reminder of Social Security’s dynamism. As society and the economy evolve, so does the system, responding not only to changes in immigration and fertility, but also in wage growth and other variables. As such, it is adaptable to the 21st century, if only the political will can be found to champion the necessary changes. Those include modest tax increases and moderate benefit cuts that could be phased in over decades — provided the country gets started soon.|||Of course it's profiling! I've been in America illegally for years and no one looks at me twice because I am white and speak perfect english. Being white collar protects me, otherwise I would have been deported years ago.
I don't get what the big controversy is. People who are here illegally are not suppose to be here. It's that simple. I hear that LA is boycotting Arizona. Give me a break.|||Most of the people who are against it have simply not read the Arizona law in question, to be honest. And they are making assumptions based on what they are being told by the press on what it will allow or not allow.
To those people thinking that it will allow a police officer to just walk up to someone and demand their "papers", it does not allow for that at all. It allows an officer who is investigating a different crime, and has suspicion that a person involved may be here illegally, to request identification/proof of who the person is... The really funny thing is that the police ALREADY have the right to do that in all 50 states. (And they do request information to verify who you are, even for a speeding ticket. And anyone who refuses to provide identification to an officer in the case of a crime can and will be taken into the police station at the very least untill the officer can get verification of identity.)
Most of the people objecting to the law are talking about the "possibility" of police officers abusing it to harass people based on race... Well I have news for you, the officers that would do that kind of junk already do, this law will NOT give them anymore power/right/excuse than they already have to do so.|||You believe that American citizens should be stopped and asked to 'show their papers' to prove they are American citizens?|||To heck with L . A . Let the bleeding heart liberals who support illegal immigration , take the illegals into their own homes , at their own expense .|||they are IGNORANT and do not understand the law! I would EXPECT the police to be asking for proof of citizenship if you're involved in a crime! they wouldn't be doing their jobs if they didn't! That should be a NATION WIDE POLICY! It's not like they are hassling you because you LOOK spanish! People are so damn DUMB it's unbelievable!|||Well, other than that the law is unAmerican, unConstitutional and gives the police way too much power at a time when they have arguably too much power than they should in a free society, not a great deal. It's a God-given human right to be a bigot, and to use the full power of the State to crack down on Enemies of the State like that. What I particularly enjoy is people getting all upset because other people are Treating Them Unfairly just because they're treating Hispanics unfairly. It's just so unfair!|||Not only that but Mr. Obama is allying himself with Presidente Calderon of Mexico in defiance of Arizona's seeking to slow down the invasion that is taking place. Arizona should stand firm. Mr. Obama is seeking to destroy the states and surrender our sovereignty to the enemy financier that hired him.|||That's because those people know that the law is only going to target certain people, namely those who look like they could be Mexican while those who don't look Mexican will be left alone. The fact of the matter is that illegal aliens come in all races and the only way to apply that fairly is to stop everybody, not just those with brown skin and who speak with an accent.|||no its not that simple most illegal people are in the US for necessity, not because they want to.
They have a family to feed and in some places there are no jobs or they get payed almost nothing. I bet you would do the same thing if you were in there situation, or were you rather see your little kids die of hunger.
Plus is not easy getting a passport or visa
it takes many years and thousands of dollars. Maybe you should do a little
research yourself of the dangers that immigrant have to passed to get to the US.|||LA is probably boycotting Arizona cause there are millions of illegals bedding down there eating their burritos and tacos.|||The Mexicans, of course, are against what Arizona is doing. But most Americans, especially young Americans, who are against what Arizona is doing just don't understand that the massive flow of illegal Mexican immigrants is an invasion force which is bent on overpopulating the American southwest with Mexicans and reclaiming it for Mexico. They believe that the American southwest was stolen from Mexico and they intend to overpopulate it with Mexicans and cede it back to Mexico. Check this out:
