This is probably because of the highly subjective nature of "difficulty". I nevertheless attempt to quantify it as follows: On a mental hardness scale of 0 to 10 with 0 = watching TV, eating, drinking & sleeping as you want and 10 = Stephen Hawking, studying engineering rates around 4-5 at B.S. level, maybe 6 at honours or MS level. On a physical hardness scale of 0 to 10 with 0 = watching TV, eating, drinking & sleeping as you want and 10 = Reinhold Messner, it scores around 3, the main physical difficulty being lack of sleep.
