If a 17 year old leaves home from California to Arizona and her parents know she is going there but don't want her to. How much could police do if she wasn't in danger?|||In the first place why would you leave if you are still 17... plus they will really not do much because you left by yourself...|||You can be carted back to your parents. And anyone that you were traveling with could be arrested for kidnapping (especially if you cross state lines).
By law: you aren't old enough to make that choice. The police would treat it with the same vigor and seriousness that they would treat any other missing child. That you are crossing state lines just means that the Feds will also be involved. The person you are living with could still be arrested for "Harboring a Runaway"... typically a misdemeanor, but since the Feds are involved it could be upped to a felony. You also can't just "go to school". You would need to be enrolled in the school system by a parent or guardian.
Just wait until you turn 18 and go live where you want.|||uhm, idk, if your parents went to the police and told them that you're missing and went to arizona, then maybe they would contact arizona police and have them search for you or something. but then again .. i don't know what the california laws are regarding legal adult or not. in rhode island, our parents have complete control over us untill the day we turn 18. i don't know if it's like that in california. if so, then yeah, you'd have arizona police looking for you. but if you're aloud to leave state at 17 completely on your own, then you should be good !|||until you are 18 your parents have the responsibilty of taking care of you,,,,,
yes they can have you arrested for running away,,|||As long as the kid didn't break any laws the police would do nothing. Leaving home without permission is not a crime.
