The ones who are here illegally have an opportunity to make things better for themselves because a majority of Americans who object to their illegality are now perhaps slightly more on the illegals' side because of Arizona's extremism...this is a time to get a good representative and try to hammer out a path to legal residence (i.e., set up fines and penalties that can make the situation less volatile). I personally am AGAINST having illegal immigrants draw any benefits such as welfare, foodstamps, health care coverage, disability, Medicare or Medicaid, Social Security, or even unemployment insurance---they've broken the law and should NOT be able to benefit at taxpayers' expense for having done so. But Arizona has taken things beyond justice, especially their latest foolishness to not have ethnic classes taught---we are ALL mixed ethnicities with the possible exception of American Indians! If the United States CRACKED DOWN on the EMPLOYERS of undocumented workers (SUSPENSION of a business license for the state, PRISON TIME, and ever escalating FINES), just as they are now attempting to stop the drug trafficking coming across the borders, perhaps the incentives for breaking immigration laws would be diminished and fewer illegals would come.|||It would show that you are very ignorant about what you are protesting against. Arizona is not anti-immigrant, it's anti illegal immigrant. And according to CNN polls and other polls taken around the country, including polls taken in L.A., most people are anti-illegal immigrant. The law clearly states that everyone is to be questioned about their legal status, no matter what race they are. Racial profiling is strictly forbidden in the amendment to the law. The law was amended several times to make sure their was no misunderstanding on what law enforcement can and cannot do. Vandalizing the USS Arizona memorial in an attempt to "hurt" Arizona is totally moronic. What you would be doing is disrespecting the Americans from all over that died in Pearl Harbor, NOT Arizona. Do you realize that almost all illegal immigrants here are stealing someone's social security number or identity to work here? And the ones that don't are exploited and paid crappy wages by people taking advantage of them. Do you know what happens when an illegal immigrant gets into an accident here? They get out of the car and run away. Guess who's stuck with the bill? Would you be so "pro immigrant" if one stole your identity? Ruined your credit? Committed a crime using your identity? Or if one caused you to be in an accident, then fled the scene? Before you make assumptions about who I am, I was born in Japan and am now a U.S. citizen that served in the U.S. Air Force. My wife is Mexican American, who's father was born in Mexico and mother from El Paso. My wife served in the U.S. Air Force as well. We support helping people on the path to legalized immigration here.|||Sorry, no nazi regime in AZ related to the illegal immigration crisis. Touching the USS Arizona Memorial would be the dumbest crime these people could possibly pull off. There would be violence towards illegal immigrants over such an act of stupidity. It would also be proof of just how little sense people have on that side of the debate. What does the USS Arizona Memorial, a grave for hundreds of WWII sailors, have to do besides sharing the name Arizona? How dumb that would be. I am so thrilled that Arizona passed this law. It is about time people start doing something about the illegal immigration problem in the U.S.|||Vandalizing is generally wrong anywhere. I respect the boycotts of AZ though.
