I am going to be going to Arizona to work for border patrol. I was just wondering what duty stations are the best to work at? Also what towns in the Southern part of Arizona are good to live at?|||To start, if you are a new applicant, you will not have a choice of duty station. New applicants are allowed to present their first, second and third choices for which region they would like to be stationed in. Each region is comprised of one or more patrol sectors and each sector is comprised of several stations.

A transferring agent does have the opportunity to select a station by not applying for stations where he or she doesn't want to work. (Unless the transfer is of a compassionate nature.)

I've worked in Douglas, Nogales and Tucson with friends in Casa Grande Station. If I had to select, I'd go with Nogales, Tucson or Casa Grande. Nogales is great work, but a little far from Tucson if you like the big city life.

Casa Grande is great work, nice place but kind of remote. However, it is still within an hours drive of Tucson. The only real drawback is that you have a long drive from the station to your patrol area.

The work in Tucson is fun and the life style is great if you enjoy the metropolitian environment. The one drawback is that it is a big station with the inherent politics.

I didn't care for Douglas, but I haven't been there in a long time. Agents currently there tell me that it's gotten much better. It's a small town a good way out from any of the metropolitian attractions, but it is great country living.|||Douglas would be one of the busiest. Nogales as well, just because they are major border crossings.

Willcox and Benson are two hours and one hour from Tucson respectively, so if you like to have civilization within a good distance, I'd shoot for them.

Now Sierra Vista is another good choice. It's a fairly big town with plenty in the way of restaurants and Walmarts and all that kind of jazz.|||The one with the 50 caliber machine gun.
