My mom really wants to move to Phoenix, Arizona. And my dad wants to move to North Carolina. I'm considering Phoenix. What are the good and bad things about living there. I already know it's hot there. Thanks for all the answers!|||I don't know how old you are, but the state you move to should be determined by where the job you've landed is.
pros: many entertainment venues, wonderful winter weather, Arizona has everything but an ocean
cons: traffic during rush hours, hot summers (think oven temps), illegals from Mexico, state budget

Don't come if you don't have a job.|||Phoenix is amazing. I recently moved here from South America and it's been a really pleasant surprise. It's winter now and you can totally wear shorts and t-shirts. Great place to go hiking, if you want to see snow you can drive up to Flagstaff, if you want to be somewhere quite there's Tucson... Arizona is perfect.

You really want to live on a Street and not an Avenue (many sketchy areas), the farther east you go, the better. I live near Scottsdale and it's just an amazing place. I love it.

I don't know who that racist idiot is who mentioned illegals but don't worry, they won't do anything to you, you have no idea how hard a life they have and how hard they work to make ends meet, so they are not a problem.|||ADVANTAGES:
Great weather
Lots of outdoor activities
Beautiful mountain views
Close proximity to California and Mexico for vacations
Amazing sunsets

DISADVANTAGES:
Heavy traffic
Air pollution
Overcrowding

[edit]
Phoenix is in a scenic valley and if you enjoy outdoor activities there are things to do any time of year. There are lots of art fairs, music festivals, and other fun events too. The problem is that about half of the population of the entire state is packed into the Phoenix metropolitan area. The department of transportation is constantly working to widen the freeways or add new ones, but they're still running behind the demands of the traffic.|||It's really only hot for about 4 months out of the year. The rest of the year is paradise. You will want a pool of your own, if possible. So nice to cool off in on a hot day and really nice for back yard entertaining. There is lots to do here. All types of sports and shows to see.

Bad things about living here. Depending on the area, we have crime from illegals who came in from Mexico. Don't go out alone after dark.
Spray for bugs as we have scorpions and they love to come into your home from the heat of the desert.
Careful when hiking as we also have snakes.

I love it here and will never live anywhere else, ever again. I was born here and I've lived in many other states.|||pros:
awesome fall, winter, and summer! love having the windows down in my car when its january.
lots of entertainment (going to see vampire weekend in april)
the cardinals
your one hour away from mountains.
low cost housing
residents like cloudy rainy days, they are rare.

cons:
july and august temps over 100 degrees
arizona driving
the economy sucks.
education, mental health services, and sheriff joe.|||the cost of living in both states is low..
so your job wages are going to be somewhat low to..

but you have all kinds of places to visit..and lots of sightseeing..
your close to nevada and california..

winter time.. its winter time.. some places yes it does snow.. northern arizona..
you will enjoy.
