Hi my family and i (husband and 2yr old daughter) want to move real soon we livd in new york manhattan and the cost of living its very expensive here therfore were trying to relocate to another state perhqps arizona can anyone please enlighten us with the safe family frie dly suburbs and the average cost of good living (conftably) and the low crime rate area to best live in|||When a person works fulltime, 40 hours per week, that's 2080 hours per year. At even minimum wage that would equate to $30,160 per year for two people. You can make it in a decent part of Phoenix with that wage.
Since I know the west valley better than the eastside I would suggest looking in Buckeye. Zip code 85326. Run that through your real estate search engine and see what pops up. Another way to get a pulse on costs here in the valley is to search the ads in both the www.azrepublic.com and www.westvalleyview.com They are two popular newspapers here with classified sections for house rentals and apartment rentals. Craigslist-Phoenix also will answer more of your questions.
If you both work and earn more than minimum wage you will live well. I say that with some reservation only because I don't know what your current debt structure is. Are your credit cards maxed out? Is your car payment high? Those are just examples of what I mean.
I've lived in both NYC and California and have to say that I personally have faired better in Arizona financially.
FYI: There are more job opportunities in the east valley and more affordable dwellings in the west valley. It's about an hours drive between the two.|||Yea Gilbert or Queen Creek on da east side or maybe surprise in the west. You could find a nice 2 or 3br apt or a house for under 800 a month. Only thing with a house your utilities will run higher. But it will definitely be far cheaper than living in Manhattan.
