Besides racism what else is wrong with the new law in Arizona about racism?
Because the racist reason is not really thought out and is just a quick reason.
Name another reason if you can.|||Race has little to do with it. Now any cop in Arizona can ask anybody to prove they are a U.S. citizen. They have yet to say what evidence you must produce, an educated guess is that whatever you have they will demand something else. Click those heels and bow down to the police state.
Papieren bitte...|||A person can be questioned about immigration status for any violation (noise complaint, overgrown lawn, etc). And if they don't have ID--and there is "reasonable suspicion" through questioning--they can be jailed. This violates the 5th amendment since a crime only is known through self-incrimination

|||AS STATED IN AN EARLIER COMMENT, 1/3 OF ARIZONA IS HISPANIC. HOWEVER, OVER 70% IF ARIZONANS ARE IN FAVOR OF IT. DOES THAT MEAN THAT 70% OF THE HISPANICS IN ARIZONA ARE RACIST? OR IS IT JUST THAT YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT ARIZONANS HAVE TO DEAL WITH AND THEY ARE ALL FED UP WITH THE ILLEGALS?Report Abuse
|||I don't understand why everyone who tried to defend the legal immigrants gets thrown out of the blogs because of the low ratings......I just wanted to say to all of you who are born and raised in United States, as well as your family...
Imagine that you have a darker skin, maybe brown eyes and black hair. You speak English perfectly and you have been a US citizen your entire life. Then, after a law that has been signed, people start looking at you differently, even treat you like if you were disgusting. On top of that, a police man stops you on the street and asks you for your papers and you show them to him, so OK, problem solved.
But, imagine that EVERY DAY OF YOUR LIFE. You have to prove EVERY DAY that you are a US citizen. And worst, you have to be treated like trash from everybody who sees you with your dark hair and automatically thinks that you're illegal....
What does it feel?????|||what kind of question is that?
racism should be looked at before anything else, because if a law unfairly effects race, than all other factors will be negatively effected.
it's like asking: what's wrong with cancer, other than the fact that it makes you real sick?
and what kind of comment was that? "the racist reason is not really thought out and is just a quick reason." i don't think you have any idea what you are talking about! clearly you don't live in arizona, and clearly you are not hispanic, and have never had anyone tell you something so mean and hurtful as a racist comment.
if you think for a minute that the racist reason is not really thought out, or it doesn't really matter, you're delusional!
I don't know about elsewhere, but let me tell you: racism against hispanics is alive and well here in Arizona, and will be for a long time coming|||This law doesn't address the problem of illegal immigration but passes pretty much the same federal law and gives the responsibility to cops. Total waste of money and time. Gives Az a bad name. Cons can kiss any latino vote goodbye, not to mention the economic impact on the Az economy. Undocs come here because businesses gives them jobs period. Also after spending millions it will be deemed unconstitutional, even cons are saying so. This law is beyond ridiculous. Hey when we need cheap labor and times are good we hire and encourage illegal immigration. Now that we are in a recession lets look for a scapegoat. I am encouraging a boycott of Az and will encourage entertainers, MLB to boycott as well. Just as they did during the MLK holiday that AZ didn't pass, and then lost millions in revenue over. Didn't they learn anything?|||Aside from the fact that it's racist and and way too much like a police state, it's just unpractical. About 1/3 of the people in Arizona are Hispanic. That's about 2 million people. If we just put all Hispanics into one category it makes it harder to find the actual immigrants. It's equivalent to screening all Muslim people in an effort to find Al Qaeda members. Sure there is the off chance that we could stumble onto one of them bu in the meantime we'd have to screen over a billion muslims looking for them. ok maybe thats not the greatest metaphor but i think you'll catch my drift. Also, should all Hispanic people now keep their papers with them at all times for the off-chance that they could be told to show their papers and forced to spend the night in prison?|||I don't think it's about racism either, let's say if the majority of the illegal aliens are of yellow race or other races other than brown but the law start targeting the brown race people, then that would be racism.
However there should be no harassment, just asked for ID, then the police call the headquarter to verify the name, if the record is good then politely let the person go.|||be realistic it target an ethnicity.did you know that our forefathers were immigrants? How can this law be constitutional? really? The problem is the crime of the drug cartels not the people who come to make a better life for their struggling families .Fight crime with CRIMINAL laws. I agree that the drug cartels are a problem then fight it with the correct methods .
As for the ignorance of some who said the
immigrant does pay taxes or file taxes is misinformed . they do file just like everyone else the IRS doiesn't ask for a green card .if you don't have a social security number you issue for a tax id number and you file your taxes .Everyone pays sales tax, property tax , their immigration status doesn't exclude them from paying these. And as far as use of welfare aid it is mainly for thier children that are USA born there are more whites on aid the hispanics.
and to address the issue of children ,babies that are brought here and raised as americans and know no other county other than this one as theirs, what of them?they didn't chose to come but are label as illegals and can be deported as well but they grew up here as americans.Where is their justice? Before you praise this law look at who you really want to punish what is the real issue? step back and see the people it hurts and who or whatis really is the problem.|||I'm largely in favor of the new law an I'm a liberal. Arizona is in a special place, it is the state with the smallest native population with the longest border. So it is the state that is damaged the most by illegals. There the problem is WAY out of hand. Their school budgets, the hospital acceptances and the taxes the legal citizens pay for illegals is way out of control
The message it send is Spanish Speakers stay the hell our of our state. This may be harsh but so has the destruction illegals have done to Arizona.
Eventually because the law is too hard so it may be overturned or modified. But not to sign it into law is to concede defeat before you give it a chance to work
And yes, this wouldn't happen if the Feds were doing their jobs.
And it isn't NEARLY as bad as what the Mexicans do the illegal Hondurans and Guatemalans who come across to their country,|||I don't believe it is against racism. Immigrants should follow the laws no matter what country they are from. I think the real problem is the security along the border, border towns and border owned property and drug problems. We need more security, which is what Arizona is really asking for.
I had to carry my birth certificate, driver license and passport when I went to Mexico and yes I was asked for it, so why doesn't that law apply when someone comes to the US.|||As a Latino democrat who voted for Obama, (and a Gay American), I recently heard about Arizona's new stringent anti-immigration law. I support it. Bravo to Arizona!
The fact is, illegal aliens have “more” rights than gay people in our country. Illegal aliens can go and see their opposite sex partners in hospitals, up until a couple of weeks ago, when Obama signed an executive order allowing same sex couples to see one another in a hospital, same sex couples would have been continually barred from seeing one another. Illegal aliens can marry an American citizen, gay people cannot marry in most states in our country. Illegal aliens can march on Washington and request some type of amnesty from a president who supports selective amnesty, gay people can march on Washington, but their president does not support same sex marriage.
Illegal aliens broke the law entering our country and are getting free health care, free housing, and food stamps. Their anchor babies born here give them these benefits automatically and there is nothing to stop them from bearing more children in order to convince a judge to let them stay in our country. On the other hand, many states do not allow gay Americans to adopt children.
Illegal aliens should all be deported now; their anchor babies can return when they turn 18 years of age. We also need to end birthright citizenship, and deny illegals access to social services. Americans are ultimately left to pick up the bill for the billions in services that they receive for free courtesy of the taxpayers all the while illegal aliens pay nothing into the system (from which they benefit) and then send mostly all their earned money back to Mexico to help our their country and not ours.
As a gay American, the notion of amnesty for these illegal aliens, aggravates me knowing that right now they have more rights than I do. Citizens who pay taxes into the system, regardless of sexual orientation, should come first before illegal aliens who take what they want from the system and leave struggling Americans paying their bill.|||its not racist illegal aliens are of all races
the law doesn't allow anyone to be stopped at random, it just allows someone who is being investigated for a crime to have to provide proof that they are in the US legally
criminal invaders cause crime and damaged the economy, they must be stopped|||"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. SEND THESE, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" This is on OUR Statue of Liberty! We LARGELY advertise on Lady Liberty that everyone who wants to come here is welcome here! You need to remember how Nazi Germany got started killing the Jews. The Jewish race of people were first just looked down on, then "harmless" fences and walls were built to keep them where they "needed to be". They couldn't imagine that their actions would lead to starvation, gas chambers, & SO much more. My country that I love, the USA, where these people just wanted to come, just like my ancestors, to have a better life, is acting just like Nazi Germany. First, after allowing them to run free and enjoy employment and a happy life, they put a stop to that by fining companies LARGE amounts of money if they hire them, when we let them live here and work here for decades without doing anything. How far are we going to let this go? These laws are to meant to treat Mexicans SO bad, keep them unemployed and hungry, not able to pay bills or to have a roof over their heads, so they will go home. Sounds eerily familiar! Don't think it can't happen here, it can. And beware when you come against a certain "group" of people, soon it may be YOUR group. Mercy and amnesty needs to be shown, instead of developing a Police State, where no one benefits! Shame on our one FREE country!|||There is no racism there.. but nice try. They will be checking lots of people, why would you think it will only be coloured people. Are you admitting that only coloured people break these laws?
Get a life. If you are not illegal and not breaking any of our laws, why worry. The rest of you, run for the hills.
About time somebody actually did this.|||There is nothing wrong with it. ALso it is NOT racist. If you are legal you have nothing to worry about.
http://www.nationscrier.com/index.php?op…|||The one thing they keep saying about the law is that it profiles.
Well, I say it is not profiling... it is probability
I am for the law|||It's only racist because the liberals say it is. If it helps get illegals out of the country and verifies the legals, then I'm all for it|||There is another one. Look at Thomas spreading a lie.
There is no reason other than some people hold the belief that we should have open borders without any sort of regulation on immigration.|||Nothing racist about it. They can't deport someone who is legally here because of their race. The most hispanic spanish speaking family in town is fine as long as they have a greencard.|||the issue is how to identify an illegal if you can't tell whose legal and whose not by looking at them.|||It's not racist. People who are against enforcing our immigration laws are unAmerican worthless criminals and accessories.|||It unnecessarily harasses brown skinned American for no apparent reason|||just how do you plan to recognize an illegal from a legal resident?|||its not racist come on its the law|||Because globally the birth rate of all countries, even less developed ones like Mexico, is declining rapidly and in a hundred years people will find any sort of immigration restriction surreal. All sources of immigration will be welcomed.|||Well who gets to decide who lives here in this country the people here are there. Yes if the truth was known it is the Vatican state that is sending their troops up here.
