In Arizona they have passed a law that a police officer can ask people to show proof of citizenship. As of right now only an immigration officer can do this(this summer it will take affect i hear). Some people think that this ma cause racism, what are your thoughts?|||It is based on federal law. Any American can be asked for their “papers”, or government issued drivers licenses as I like to call them, if there is reasonable cause. Why should illegal immigrants, who are breaking the law, by being in this country illegally, be exempt? If the federal government would actually enforce the laws that are on the books these state laws would not be necessary. People are being killed on the border and something needs to be done about it… it’s too bad if someone’s feelings get hurt.|||Muéstrame tus papeles

|||The opposition of this law understandably comes from the scores of Mexicans ILLEGALLY residing in the U.S.; their rants DO NOT impress me. Arizona politicians understandably oppose the law only to secure re-election votes; their rants also DO NOT impress me.I support the law--it's about damn time someone stood up against the ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION problem.
All U.S. law enforcement officers should have the well protected right to ask people for legal proof of U.S. citizenship and residency. I'm a legal U.S. citizen and therefore--I have NO problem being asked to prove that.
Anyone found to be ILLEGALLY residing in the U.S. should be held in short-stay facilities, prepped to be hauled back INTO their own country. Repeat offenders should see years Federal prison time if they want to stay in the USA.
Mexicans really do need to fix their own currently f-ked up country and stop damaging ours by being here ILLEGALLY.|||Actually crane Arizona Law states that no persons have to show their ID without probable cause, at least it did prior to this Law.
The Law clearly violates Civil/Constitutional Rights so, anyone that think it's a "Good" thing can go ahead and lay the rest of their constitutional rights on the floor since they think so little of the 4th ammendmant.
Anyone that thinks that the law is all aobut "catchin'; dem illegal mexicans" is an idiot. Do you honestly think mexicans are the only illegal race of people in this country?
Answer yes to that and I call you a moron.|||I think all states should follow Arizona's lead! I applaud Arizona for her efforts. I live in California, I think I'll be moving to Arizona soon as we get flooded with the inflow of illegals coming from Arizona.
___
I think the 4th amendment states "unreasonable" search and seizures. Our nation is under attack with illegal immigration. Our economy is in shambles, people are out of work and taxes are sky high. Health care reform will make things worse, wall street still trying to gouge more money out of main street. Times are tough... it's no longer unreasonable to take care of people looking for a free handout!|||The Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution reads:
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."|||SB 1070 is a great law against illegal immigration and fighting the drug cartels. However, this law will lead towards racial profiling no doubt. Basically, if you're hispanic and currently living in Arizona, then you can be targeted basically just for being brown skinned. Pros and Cons.|||It's Balant Racism and Fascism (during the Third Reich the Jews had to walk around with their papers) Arizona is making a foolish and ignorant mistake by hurting it's own economy because many illegal aliens of Latin ethnicity works as housekeepers, janitors and other jobs that me and you would not do. That's like in 1863 when Free Blacks had to walk around with their papers to prove that they were not slaves.|||I don't feel nothing! that is totally inadequate and stupid? is true, it will fix the problem? of course not! is based in hypocrisy, ignorance, racism and hate? absofreakinglutely! you'll say is not true as well fox news? of course! other states will adopted? after they see the consequences they will not.
