arizona: I have a walk in study/den that I want to turn into a bedroom in Arizona. When it comes time to sell the house, I want this to be a real 4th bedroom. What has to be done? Does it need a closet? Do I need to wire a smoke alarm to the rest of the house? Can the closet be a portable job from Ikea? If it's small you might call it a "guest bedroom." However, the buyer may not want it to be a bedroom. When you're preparing it for sale, just put a small bed (or daybed) in there so the buyer can envision it as something else if they wish.
