I am in Phoenix, Arizona and looking to get a simple business license. At this time I am not going to do anything with it other than shop wholesale, and at one point, I hope to sell online.
What kind of business license would I need and how much would it cost? Thanks.|||You must contact govt. license office for further help, hope it helps|||First of all, the state does not set business licenses, the city your business is located in does (or where you live)--a call or trip to city hall will give you the info. Second, a business license does not allow you to buy wholesale--that is a resale certificate (you will need both). Now, shopping wholesale is not as easy as most people think it is AND you are still liable for all the sales taxes (whether you sell the item or keep it for yourself). You will pay the franchise tax board quarterly or yearly so keep meticulous records. When you try & purchase whole sale; you will need to furnish a copy of the resale certificate (which they will give to the franchise tax board on demand--so you can not hide purchases), and proof of a legitimate business (in the form of a business card, purchase order, etc); then there may be a minimum purchase (often $500 worth) and it is cash/business check/business credit card depending before the goods are furnished until credit is established. You may not be able to buy just anything wholesale as well--most of the time, the wholesaler sells appropriate to the business; they may even require that you own a store before they sell to you.|||The business.gov website should help you out.
